Our work

One Roof Leicester supports single people who are homeless in Leicester, to recover, reset and rebuild their lives in a safe and stable home. We achieve this by:

• Providing accommodation in small shared houses to those ready for semi-independent living.

• Providing a dedicated Support Worker who helps residents apply for welfare benefits, employment and training, and when they are ready more permanent accommodation.

• Supporting individuals who have secured a permanent home by preparing the property, assisting with the move and helping with practicalities (e.g. setting up utilities).

Trustee opportunity

We are currently experiencing growing demand for our services whilst operating in an increasingly challenging environment where competition for funding has increased significantly. Our business plan includes improving our financial sustainability through broadening our income streams and we are seeking individuals to strengthen the board’s expertise and capacity in Finance and Accounting

We also want to increase the diversity of our board so that we have a broader range of views and perspectives to contribute to discussions and decision making. Regardless of specific expertise listed above we are particularly keen to receive applications from people who:

- represent Leicester’s diverse communities

- are aged under 45

- have lived experience of the challenges our clients face (E.g. homelessness, being a

refugee, experiencing mental health issues and/or substance abuse etc).

Ideally you will live in Leicester or Leicestershire however as ORL Trustee meetings are hybrid this is not essential.

Please note previous trustee board experience is not necessary as training will be provided.

Terms of office

• Trustees are appointed for a 3 year term of office, renewal for 2 further terms to a maximum of 9 years.

• This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Time commitment

• Attending 4 board meetings annually and 4 committee meetings. Full board meetings are hybrid and committee meetings are online

• Attending 1 annual Away Day and training as required
