ORL Homes

A place individuals can call home that are supported by local communities

We provide accommodation to single people who are homeless (including destitute refugees and destitute asylum seekers), who are ready for semi-independent living.

Whilst in a One Roof Home, our residents are provided with the specialist support they need to rebuild their lives

A room in an ORL Home is offered to people with a genuine need, and we work closely with our partners to identify the individual who is ready to move into semi-independent living.

We accommodate 2 - 3 vulnerable adults in each house, which are located within the community. Each resident has their own bedroom and shares communal space (e.g. kitchen, bathroom, living room). We fully furnish each property and ensure that the properties are maintained to a high standard.

Whilst in the home, each resident is assigned a support worker who helps them apply for benefits, employment, training and eventually move on.

Where residents are eligible for social housing, they are supported to make a housing application to the Local Authority and helped to bid on properties.

Compassionate beds

Where a resident has no income either because they are ineligible for benefits or unable to work ORL provides a room for free.

Whilst staying with us we provide the same level of one-to-one support, a weekly subsistence payment and food and toiletry parcels to the resident. These compassionate bed spaces are funded through donations.

Community involvement

ORL Homes create the opportunity for faith and community groups to support the people living in our houses.

Volunteers from the local community offer a range of support to the residents. They regularly drop off parcels of food, toiletries or cleaning products. These items help residents with no or limited income.

Other volunteers help with gardening, including encouraging the residents to help with planting and growing vegetables they can use in their cooking.

Volunteers also help prepare a house for new residents, including cleaning, decorating and furnishing.
