Homeless Services - Christmas and New Year 2017/18

This service is normally for clients who are referred or registered with the Centre, but will operate flexible access arrangements over the Xmas and New Year period.

Normal Opening Monday to Friday: Opening times 8.30am – 4pm Weekends No service - closed

Closed: Xmas Day, Boxing Day Tuesday 26th Dec and Monday 1st January 2018. Normal service resumes on Tuesday 2nd January 2018.

The Dawn Centre, Conduit Street - Tel: 0116 221 2770

The Centre will be open throughout the Christmas period offering advice, support and assistance to those who are homeless. No alcohol is allowed on the premises.

Open: Every day

The Case Restaurant, 4 - 6 Hotel Street (Organised by The Bridge)

Providing a friendly warm environment from 12.30pm - 2.30pm on Christmas Day, with Christmas dinner provided for people rough sleeping, sofa surfing or who are vulnerably housed. Please feel free to come along and enjoy yourself.

The Bridge Homelessness to Hope, 43 Melton Street, Leicester, LE1 3NB

Open: Monday to Friday breakfast session from 6am-8am.Hot food service Thursday 21st Dec & 28th Dec from 6.30pm- 8pm & Sunday 24th & 31st Dec 3.00pm – 5pm. Providing hot food and drinks with a warm and friendly place to meet and chat.

Homeless Healthcare Service (provided by Inclusion ‘Healthcare Social Enterprise’)

GP Access arrangements: at Dawn Centre, normal service until Friday 22nd Dec 8.30 -12.pm. Then Wed 27th Dec 8.30am – 10.30am, Thurs 28th Dec 8.30am – 10.30am & Friday 29th Dec 8.30 am- 10.30am.

All GP Services provided at Charles Berry House, 45 East Bond Street, LE1 4SX, normal hours until Friday 22nd Dec 8.30am-5pm, Wed 27th Dec 8.30am -5pm, Thursday 28th Dec 8.30-5pm and Friday 29th Dec 8.30am-5pm.

If you need a doctor outside of surgery hours, please telephone 111 or in an emergency, dial 999.

Normal service resumes Tuesday 2nd January 2018.

Centre Project, 1 Alfred Place, off Granby Street (Opp. Mercure ‘The Grand Hotel’) - Tel: 0116 255 4013

A warm & welcoming drop-in centre - provides a range of social activities including affordable food & drinks for vulnerable people, also Parish Nursing, Counselling, practical support, computers and sign posting as well as support and advice.

Open: Tuesday 19th Dec 12.30pm – 5pm, Thursday 21st Dec 12.30pm-5pm - and Friday 22nd Dec 12.30pm- 4pm. Food is normally served between 12.30pm and 1.45pm (£2.50 for dinner & a sweet).

Closed: From 23rd Dec, re-opens Thursday 4th Jan 2018

Homeless Mental Health Service (Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust) Dawn Centre, Conduit Street - Tel: 0116 295 8442

Provides daily drop-in for mental health assessment / support & access to mental health services for homeless people (age 16+) - at the Healthcare suite within The Y project at the Dawn Centre:

Open: Monday to Friday 9am – 12 noon

Hostel and other visits by pre-arranged appointment.

Telephone contact and other visits available 8.30am – 4.30pm normal weekdays. Closed: 25th, 26th Dec & 1st Jan (Bank holidays and weekends). Open: 27th, 28th & 29th Dec - Normal service resumes Tuesday 2nd Jan 2018.
When no service is available – emergency access/ support via GP or Leicester Royal Infirmary Urgent Care Centre, or telephone Turning Point crisis support on 0808 800 3302, 24/7 mental health support/advice.

Homeless Outreach Team
Dawn Centre, Conduit Street - Tel: 0116 299 5514

The team provides an outreach service to homeless and rough sleepers in the city - referring to Dawn Centre dormitory and severe weather bed provision and providing advice and assistance.

The team are out and about on weekdays, including:
Monday 18th to Thurs 21st Dec 6am--9.30pm, Fri 22nd Dec 6am-2pm, Thurs 28th Dec from 6am – 2pm and Fri Dec 29th Dec 6am-2pm.

Closed: Weekends, Xmas Day, Tuesday 26th Dec Boxing Day, New Year’s Day and Bank Holidays. Normal service resumes Tuesday 2nd Jan (6am – 2pm & 2pm-9.30)

Triangle, Holy Trinity Church, Turner Street, off Regent Road

Normally every Friday night: doors open 7pm serving at 7.30pm for a hot meal / sandwiches. Friday 22nd Dec -Christmas Meal will be served. Closed on Friday 29th Dec.

Open Hands Compassion Centre (Trinity Life Church), Unit 1-4, 23-25 Highfield Street
Open: Tuesday 19th Dec Food Store 9.30am-12.30pm. Hot meal 7pm
Closed: from Wednesday 20th Dec until, re-opens Tuesday 9th Jan 2018

The Full Gospel Mission from Coalville - Outside New Walk Museum

Monday 18th Dec (7pm – 7.45pm) serving soup, sandwiches, snacks, hot drinks and clothing. Not serving on 25th Dec or 1stJan

Direct access day centre for the homeless and those vulnerably housed, offering advice & support, practical help one-to-one tailored support and employment advice. (Financial advice/support Wed 9am – 1pm from Moneywise Plus).

Service open 8am – 1pm (8am – 10am drop-in, 10am-1pm one-to-one support)

Breakfasts from 8am – 9am for rough sleepers, those of no fixed abode and vulnerably housed. Support with seeking accommodation and referrals to the outreach team.

Open: 18th, 19th, 20th 21st ,22nd, 27th , 28th and 29th Dec (8am- 1pm).

Midland Langar Seva Society, Market Place South, opposite Dolphin Square

Serve hot meals (rice & curry), drinks and snacks every Saturday 7pm – 8pm

*Normal service on Saturday 23rd December and Saturday 30th December - hot food and drinks 7pm- 8pm.

Eat ‘n’ Meet underneath St James ‘The Greater Church’ - entrance through St James’ Terrace, Tel: 07989 698 483

Providing a hot meal, hot & cold drinks, activities, and a safe, warm and friendly environment.

Open: Saturdays 23rd December and 30th December, from 11.30am – 12.45.pm

Sound Café at St Martins House, 7 Peacock lane, (in The Great Hall)

Offers a safe creative space for people who are homeless and vulnerable, to engage in singing, art, poetry and chat. Providing light refreshments (tea/coffee/juice/cake/biscuits)
Operates on Wednesdays 1.30pm-3pm.

Open: Wednesday 20th Dec 1.30pm-3pm. at the Great Hall, St Martins House
Closed: on Wednesday 27th Dec, re-opens Wednesday 3rd Jan

Leicester Assistance, at The City Retreat, 70 Church Gate

Provides packed food (sandwiches, crisps, biscuits, fruit), hot drinks, clothes, blankets and toiletries every Tuesday 6pm-7pm. Services and food may vary from week to week.

Open: Tuesdays 19th December from 6pm-7pm. Closed on Tuesday 26th December.

Saray Mangal Restaurant, 3-5 Highfield Street, Leicester

Providing 3 course meal in warm environment from 12.00pm - 16.00pm on Christmas Day, for the homeless, elderly and who are vulnerably housed. Please feel free to come along and enjoy yourself.

Housing Options, Customer Service Centre, 91 Granby Street, Tel: 0116 454 1008

The Housing Options Service offers information, advice and assistance on a wide range of housing matters, including help for those who are threatened with homelessness and Single Access and Referral Service for those who need emergency temporary accommodation.
Open to customers at Customer Service Centre: 8.30am – 5pm Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, and 8.30am – 4.30pm Friday.
